Shadowing Group Competition

4 March to 12 May 2017

Record your group... talk to camera... give a sneak peek inside the book.. read aloud or get dramatic with some props and acting. Show us why you think the book is brilliant!

We’re asking shadowing groups to get creative and record a short book trailer promoting your chosen book from the 2017 CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medal shortlists.

This exciting competition is brought to you by our sponsors Renaissance Learning and Peters.

Main competition: no edits please

Your video must be simple & unedited - with no production enhancement. We want basic video clips of up to 120 seconds max, filmed directly on a phone, tablet or camera: no use of apps, post-production enhancements or editing please!

We’re looking for creativity on-screen rather than through special effects so you don’t need sophisticated technology or video production experience: just good ideas and a great on-screen presence.

Separate prize: Most creative video

For technology fans, we have a separate prize for the most creative video. Pre and post-production is allowed here! Your video should be up to 120 seconds max and we are looking for good ideas together with creative use of technology: Feel free to use apps, after effects, production tools etc.

Prizes are available to 2 groups for the main competition.

One Carnegie winner – must be at secondary school level
One Greenaway winner – must be at primary school level
A separate prize will be awarded for the most creative video (Prize to be confirmed)

The two winning groups will each win a set of tickets for 12 shadowers plus one or more group leaders to attend the 2017 Award ceremony on 19 June in London. Please note that travel costs are not covered and would need to be covered by your organisation.
