First Discussion Meeting Today!
Our group has been reading the Carnegie books over the Easter holidays and we will have our first discussion group today at lunchtime. We have 4 reviews posted so far, and we will have a chance to post more at our meeting. It will be interesting to see which book has been our most popular book so far!

Still going strong!
Our group has really been enjoying the books selected this year. Well done to Joshua A. who has already finished reading all 8 titles shortlisted! This week we had a new book move into our No. 1 position on the reading barometer. My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece has moved to first place while A Monster Calls has moved to second place. I wonder if the scores will change next week? Watch this space....

Keep on Reading!
We are now well-underway with this year's shadowing scheme. Most of the boys in our group have read at least one book and many have already read two or more! We have more than 20 book reviews on our website so far. We will soon know which book is our current favourite. Well done so far and keep on reading!

We began our Shadowing Group on Wednesday 4th April when we met to give everyone their first book to read and learned how to post reviews. We now have two weeks of holiday so hopefully everyone will have time to read their books. We'll meet up on Wednesday 25th April to see how we got on. Which book will get the highest score so far? Will anyone manage to read all eight books?

And our winner is.....
We had a very successful party at the end of our Carnegie Shadowing group. Well done to all the boys who managed to read all 6 of the short-listed books. All the boys who took part received certificates and our DGS winner was announced. Out of Shadows got the most votes from our group as the top book. We'll find out on Thursday which book wins the Carnegie Medal for 2011.

Exams have now finished so everyone can get back to reading, rather than revising. This will be the week to try and finish off as many books and reviews as possible. Next week is Creativity Week, including the trip to Bath, so no shadowing meetings.Time is running out!

Well, our group is now well established and everyone is reading rapidly. It's quite a challenge to read all eight books in the time available. Will anyone achieve this?

The final shortlist has been announced, the books are here, now we just need to set up our group and get started. Keep checking the corridor noticeboard outside the LRC for further information.

At 12.30 today it was announced that the book we voted into 6th place had won the Carnegie Medal. Our choices always differ from those of the national judges...perhaps one year we will agree with them!
Posted on: 25 Jun 2009

After all the scores were added up, the winner of the DGS Carnegie Medal was..... THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO. Second was Airman, with Black Rabbit Summer in third place. Will the national judges agree with our choice? You'll have to wait until Thursday 25th to find out!

Well, it's all over now and we had our celebration party on Friday. Everyone received a certificate for taking part and had fun completing puzzles about the shortlisted books before posing for the official group photo. Large quantities of biscuits, popcorn and crisps disappeared quickly!

As our last week of shadowing approaches we're making a real effort to finish off our books. Joshua A, Yusuf and Javinder have now finished five, so are forging ahead. Well done boys!

Exams are over, so we're back again, with everyone reading and competing to complete all seven titles. Some good reviews have been posted and will be displayed on our Carnegie board in the corridor for everyone to read.

Zachary is our star reader at the moment, having been in today to choose yet another book. Will he be the only one to read all 7 titles before the deadline?
