Jeddah Prep Shadowers

Group status: We have nearly read all the books and there is lots of discussion about who should win!
Jeddah Prep is Shadowing – and EVERYONE is getting involved! • Y6 are evaluating all 8 shortlisted books against their own criteria... see their reviews - coming soon! • Y5 are listening to the stories and making some interesting responses. they will blog over the next few weeks. Y3 & Y4 are sharing the books and reviewing their favourites. we will share that over the next few weeks. • Nursery, Reception and Y1 classes are listening to the books, singing songs about the characters or the places where the stories are set. • Y2 will be drawing their version of the covers and we will be loading those pictures up to the Greenaway gallery. Later on we will all be voting for the book we think will win the Kate Greenaway Medal this year. The judges announce their choice on the 19th June. It's an exciting time for reading!

What ONE thing can an illustrator do to make the reader become more involved in the story?

Use colours effectively
Make sure that the main characters are easy to identify
Put unusual objects into the pictures to make us think
Make the cover grab you by the eyeballs
