Things A Bright Girl Can Do

The themes that this book discusses are fascinating, with ideas of gender, sexuality, and identity permeating the novel. This novel presents some amazing characters, such as Nell and May, and this enables a really interesting insight in to the novel and the lives of the Suffragettes. The main story hits hard and gives you a great understanding of life at this time.

This book has lots of plot twists that really surpass your expectations of the book. The ending is phenomenal and it is overall a great book. Set at the start of WWI, I would recommend this novel to anyone, whether they want to learn more about the Suffragettes, the lives of women during the First World War, and the expressions of sexuality in this time.

I think the topic that Things A Bright Girl Can Do covers is very thought-provoking because not many authors choose to write about suffragettes in as much detail as Sally Nicholls has. I would give this book a 4.5/5.
