The House with Chicken Legs

The House with Chicken Legs is a compelling book with an engrossing story-line and a gripping ending. The aspect of this book I enjoyed most was how the different characters were portrayed and the variety of events that created suspense and empathy for characters like Marinka, Baba, Benjamin, Nina and others.Emotions were explored so the reader could feel involved in the complex situations each character was part of. I enjoyed the modern twist and depth that was added to the well known fairy tale 'Baba Yaga' as it is creative and allowed the reader to understand both stories better. The ending had an unexpected twist which reflected on young people's futures and pressure of lives ahead of them. I think this ties into the moral of the story:'living in the moment'.
