The Poet X
The thing I enjoyed most about this book was that every word had a purpose, this is something I feel I key to verse books and is definitely a reason I like them so much - they can't fluff around with unnecessary dialogue or description every word has to be a punch.
That's what this book is : a fight. We see Xio, the protagonist ,fighting to be accepted as who she wants to be and what her family and her community want her to be.
In this book we see friendship, first love, anger, identity and the different standards set for girls and boys. This book is not only beautifully written but also diverse and important. 4.75/5 stars.
